A tamp is the one step in your espresso routine you cannot measure. Grind size has numbers, dose has a scale, shot time has a timer — but tamping pressure lives in your wrist, and it changes when you are tired, in a hurry, or holding the portafilter at a slightly different angle.

PULSE PRESS takes that variable off the table. Rest the base flat on the basket rim and press straight down until you hear the click: that is a calibrated 25lb strike, the same force it delivered yesterday and the same force it will deliver next year.

Compatibility

58.5mm fits standard 58mm portafilters. Size matters more than brand here — a tamper that runs small leaves an uncompressed ring of grounds at the basket edge. For 54mm Breville and Sage baskets, choose the 53.3mm version instead.

Good to know

This is a tamper, not a distributor: it levels and compresses but does not break up clumps. Distribute first (WDT or our GRAVITY-FLOAT magnetic distributor), then one press. Wipe the base after use and keep the walnut handle out of the dishwasher.
