This is a coffee distributor that you use after grinding your coffee (and using a WDT tool and tapping), but just before tamping. It levels out your grounds for a more even puck.
To be honest, I think for the most part, this is the least-needed tool in my coffee setup. I think if you have a portafilter holder to hold it while tamping, that is going to help more than anything. But still, this is fun. It definitely is efficient at smoothing out that puck. It’s just heavy and expensive.
The first time I used it, I did it wrong, and I ended up with really slanted espresso pucks. That’s because I was trying to hold onto the top part and spin the heavy part onto the coffee. No, that was wrong. The thing is, this didn’t come with instructions and I didn’t watch any videos. What you do is set the Gravity Float on your coffee and then hold the middle ring and then twist. It doesn’t spin as fast as the other way, but you end up with perfectly level coffee then.
This is very much a solidly made tool. It is made of stainless steel and has a real wood top (which matches the rest of my coffee station setup nicely). I’ve ordered other items from Creamore, and I’ve been pleased with them, as well.
I have the Breville Express espresso machine, so I ordered the 54-mm size and it works with my portafilter perfectly.
I give this 5 stars for the build quality and the fact that it does exactly what it is meant to do, and does it easily and very well, and is fun to use. I think it is kind of expensive, but that’s not to say it isn’t worth it; it’s just that maybe it is one of those upgrade things that you wait to get as a splurge, because it isn’t a necessity.

So dang beautiful! Why cant it be 51mm also! The whole self leveling design is so important! Most distributors that are manual leveling are too thick and can compact your grounds too tight. The self leveling makes sure it distributes. So the tamper can do its job perfectly
